ERROR 5


Generic Host Process error and Windows Firewall Error 5

Few days back i was experiencing an error in my windows xp, after booting windows xp some error arise when desktop comes up, few min later desktop screen turn white for a second or two and than it is again restored to its blue default color. Once this error occur two things stop working....

After this error firewall/internet connection sharing is disabled and when u try to enable it by going to services.msc in RUN. you will get the message like " could not start the windows firewall/internet connection sharing (ICS) service on local computer. Error 5: Access is denied " dun error 761

Second thing which is disturbed by this error is that the sound of windows media player is disabled and when u try to enable it by going to services.msc in RUN, and when u restart ur computer than it will start working again, but after few min the same error again occur..

HOW TO REMOVE THIS ERROR..
Add the Windows Firewall entry to the registry........

1. First download this file from HERE
2. Double-click Sharedaccess.reg to merge the contents of this file into the registry and to create the Windows Firewall entry.
3. Restart Windows.
4. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
5. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:Netsh firewall reset
6. Click Start, click Run, type firewall.cpl, and then click OK.
7. Configure the Windows Firewall settings that you want to use.
