Install Windows XP for Dummies

First of all copy all your private data in some other drive other than C: or in your external usb, because during installing windows you will lose all data in drive C: drive.

1. After copying your files in external usb put your Windows XP CD in your CD Rom.
2. Now restart your PC.
3. During your PC boot at the start window you will see at the bottom of ur screen,,

" press or to enter setup "

press that button which is shown in the bottom of your screen, it may be F2 or F10 or something else but mostly these two keys are used by companies.
4. Once you had pressed the F2 or F10 button you will enter in the setup mode of your PC.
5. Here find Boot Configuration or Boot Sequence Order that allows you to change the boot sequence.
Set it to boot from CD before hard drive in the boot sequence.
6. Now exit this setup screen by saving the changes you have done.
7. Your computer will again reboot. Now you will see at the bottom screen while booting....
" Press any key to boot from CD... "
So press any key to start from CD.
8. A blue screen will appear. At the bottom you will see drivers are loading wait till all drivers are loaded.
9. When Welocome to Setup Screen will appear, press ENTER to setup Windows XP now...
10. Now press F8 to agree the License Agreement.
11. In this screen's lower portion you will see the C drive Partition and its space.
12. Hope you are following till now. Here Press D to delete the partition C.
( this will delete all data from drive C )
13. Here a screen appear saying are u sure to delete this system partition. Press ENTER
to confirm the deletion.
14. In this screen Press L to delete the partition C:
15. Now you will see the "UNPARTITIONED SPACE" and its size 20480 mb infront of it.
Press C to create a new partition.
16. In this screen you are asked to enter a partition size. Clear the field first and Type 8000 in the field where cursor is blinking, and press ENTER.
17. Now in this screen you will see a partition C is created. Well DOne...
18. Highlight the "UNPARTITIONED SPACE" below it by using down arrow key, and press C to create another new partition.
19. In this screen we have to enter the partition size. Some figures are by default written in the field which is the maximum size we can make. Just press ENTER here.
20. Well done you had created another partition D.
21. Make sure the drive C is highlighted if not use arrow keys. This highlighted drive is the
one where your windows xp will be installed, and press ENTER.
22. Now Select " FORMAT THE PARTITION USING THE NTFS FILE SYSTEM " and press ENTER.
23. Formatting the drive C would take several minutes. so wait..i must say go and get a drink..
24. When format is complete the setup will start COPYING WINDOWS XP INSTALLATION FILES IN UR C DRIVE. This will take few minutes in copying so please wait here also..finish ur drink.
25. After Copying your computer will restart itself, now during windows bootup process donnot press any button when it prompt you to...
" Press any key to boot from CD "
PLZ donnot press any button.
26. After few second when u donnot press any button windows screen will appear.
27. Windows XP is going to install now.
28. After few minutes During installation, the Regional and Language Options window will appear.Just click next

NOTE: I THINK IN THIS STEP U HAD TO TYPE THE SERIAL KEY FOR WINDOWS WHICH IS WRITTEN AT THE BACK OF UR CD COVER.

29. Again few minutes later in name field type ur name and in organizaton field type what ever u want to type.
30. When next window is popped, type ur computer name. what ever u want to type. leave password fields empty.
31. After few time " Date and Time Settings window ", will appear set the correct date, time and time zone settings.
32. In next window click typical settings and click NEXT
33. In next window just click next. The Windows XP installation will now finalize. No user intervention is necessary.
34. Your PC will automatically restart and proceed to load Windows XP for the first time.Take out ur windows xp CD out.
35. After the Windows XP start up splash screen appeared, a window titled Display Settings will appear. Click OK to allow Windows XP to automatically adjust the screen resolution.
36. Welcome to MICROSOFT WINDOWS screen APPEAR Click NEXT, in next window click SKIP.
37. In this step, Windows XP wants to know whether your computer connects to the Internet through a network or if it connects to the Internet directly. Select second option (connects to the Internet directly) and click next....
38. Registration with Microsoft appear and choose No, not at this time and click Next ->.
39. In next window type infront of "YOURNAME" which will be displayed when you press start button.
40. click finish
Windows XP is now loading for the first time. This may take a minute or two depending on your computer's speed.
41. Now when you will see ur desktop window go to
My Computer>Right Click D Drive>Click Format
In file system field select NTFS and select quick format which is underneath it and click start. it will warn u and click ok. in few seconds ur D: DRIVE is also formatted.
42. Finally restart ur PC and at the start of boot process again press F2 OR F10 which u pressed at step no 3.
43. Here go to Boot Configuration or Boot Sequence Order that allows you to change the boot sequence, u went here previously at step no.5 .......Set it to boot from HARD DISK.
Remember: Come out of this setup by saving the changes.
44. Your windows will load normally, NOW , u have to install all of ur laptops DRIVERS.
plz at the end disable these features..........as directed below
45. Right Click My Computer>Properties>Click Advance tab>Click Error Reporting button> select disable error reporting> press ok
46. Right Click My Computer>Properties>Click Automatic Updates>select turn off automatic updates> press ok

NOW KEEP ALL UR PRIVATE DATA IN DRIVE D NOT IN DRIVE C COZ WHEN U INSTALL WINDOW AGAIN U DONNOT HAVE TO SAVE UR DATA AGAIN. IT WILL BE SAFE IN DRIVE D.

I HOPE ONCE U HAD GONE THROUGH THIS PROCESS U WILL INSTALL WINDOWS ON UR OWN NEXT TIME.
